Six Pillars of Resilience

Having a dream or a goal in times of uncertainty feels scary. But focusing on a goal creates a positive energy that you can use to influence the world.

This is one of the many lessons from the most recent Winter Olympics. Despite the chaos in the world right now, these athletes not only gave everything they had to their dream, they allowed us to share in that excitement and pride. For those athletes from war-torn countries, we can learn even more about how to chase our dreams in times of upheaval.

As we continue to navigate uncharted territory, it’s easy to give up. We struggle to keep up with business as usual, and goals seem farther away than ever. But humans have a huge capacity for resilience.

Feeling fear is normal, but complacency will keep you stuck. Those with the most resilience will emerge from the chaos ready to leap ahead.

Navigating the Storm: 6 Pillars of Resilience

1. Acknowledge the Tug-of-War

The gap between your ambitious goals and current disruptions is real. Don’t ignore the tension; name it. Recognizing the struggle is the first step toward mastering it.

2. Lead with Values, Not Just KPIs

Targets are temporary; values are permanent. Connect your daily tasks to a deeper purpose. When the "what" gets exhausting, the "why" keeps you anchored.

3. The Power of the Routine

When the world feels chaotic, control the controllable. Build a morning or evening ritual that grounds you. Predictability in your habits creates mental space for unpredictability in your work.

4. Find Your "Work Bestie"

Don’t carry the pressure alone. We all need that one trusted colleague where we can safely vent. High-performance requires a pressure-relief valve; find yours.

5. Harness Emotional Energy

Visualize your success vividly. Don't just think about the win—feel the confidence associated with it. Use that emotional charge to fuel your momentum when logic feels drained.

6. Find Your Tribe

Success isn't a zero-sum game. Surround yourself with a community that uplifts. Seek environments where everyone’s growth is celebrated, and "winning" is a collective effort.
