Frequently asked questions.

What exactly is professional coaching?

The International Coaching Federation (ICF) defines coaching as a partnership that inspires you to maximize your personal and professional potential. At Move to Joy, I take this a step further by acting as your Possibility Partner. I help you move beyond "adulting" responsibilities and the corporate grind to dust off the dreams you’ve kept on the shelf. Whether it’s a radical career shift, starting a business, or a major health goal, we work together to turn those "vague yearnings" into achievable realities

What can I expect with coaching?

Following ICF competencies, our sessions are thought-provoking and action-oriented. We typically utilize my M.A.P. Process™:

  • Measure/Map: We assess exactly where you are now.

  • Act: We identify the creative solutions and practical tactics needed to move forward.

  • Practice/Progress: We use mile markers to measure success and keep you accountable with compassion. Every session is designed to move you from "I could never" to "I’m so glad I did"

How long does a coaching engagement last?

Meaningful transformation takes time, especially when you are "reclaiming your soul" from a draining career. While we can create initial clarity in a few sessions, most clients find that a 3 to 6-month engagement allows us to fully implement the M.O.V.E. to J.O.Y. Framework™. This ensures your new path—whether it’s a "career do-over" or a legacy project—is sustainable and doesn't "capsize your life".

What’s the difference between a coach, a mentor, and a therapist?

While therapy often focuses on healing the past and mentoring relies on someone else’s roadmap, coaching is about your future and your unique path. My approach is non-traditional; I don’t give you a standard itinerary. Instead, I use my background in Project Management to help you foresee risks and navigate roadblocks. We don't just talk about feelings; we identify the "sinkholes" that have stopped you before and create a custom plan to move past them.

What is the ICF Code of Ethics and why does it matter?

As a professional coach, I adhere to the ICF standards of strict confidentiality and professional integrity. This is the foundation of the "safe space" I provide. You can share the dreams you’ve never told anyone else, knowing our partnership is rooted in authenticity and respect. My goal is to be your Dream Champion, believing in your potential until you have the results to believe in it yourself
