Dreaming of Traveling
All her life, Steph had wanted to travel.
She had been lucky enough to explore much of her home country (USA) but yearned to travel to more exotic destinations: Africa, Asia, remote islands. She could imagine the heat and dust as she stood in front of the pyramids; the sweltering humidity and noise of thousands of hooves pounding across the savannah, the screeching of the monkeys calling in Borneo, and the rhythm of the waves against the sand on an island in the south Pacific.
The only problem? Steph was watching it on YouTube instead of living it.
“Real life” kept intruding: the cost of living was increasing faster than her salary making it hard to save money for luxuries like travel, something always seemed to need an emergency repair at the house, and her vacation time dribbled away by a day here and a day there, leaving no time off to travel. And even if Steph could find the time and money, she had no one to travel with her.
And then in 2025, she had that milestone birthday. Steph suddenly realized that she needed to figure out how to travel now, because if she waited much longer, she might not be able to.
That’s when we connected.
We started working through the M.A.P. Process so she could have her dream. We started with her Bold Goal: travel. We worked to refine exactly what that dream looked like, until we had it detailed enough to create a goal: see the “Big 5” on safari in Kenya three years from now. Together, we created a plan that would get her there, finding some creative solutions along the way so that she could live her life with Joyous Momentum as she pursued her dream.
Steph has now traveled to Africa to see not only elephants, hippos, and rhinos, she has also been to the Great Pyramids, another of her big dreams. Along the way she indulged in her love culture by learning about local traditions and foods, spending time with the people who live in the areas she visits. She is still traveling regularly, setting new Bold Goals and always living with Joyous Momentum!
We’ve all been Steph—watching our dreams on YouTube while 'real life' gets in the way of us doing instead of watching.
What is the one dream you keep watching and researching, but never doing?
