You Don't Need Probable…You Just Need Possible
You have a yearning. It’s a quiet hum in the background of your busy, successful life.
Maybe it’s the business you’ve wanted to start for twenty years. Maybe it’s the physical vitality you feel you lost a decade ago. Maybe it’s a mission to serve your community in a way that leaves a lasting legacy.
But almost immediately after you let yourself feel that yearning, the "Probable" police show up in your head.
"It’s probably too late to change careers at 50."
"I’ve failed at getting healthy five times before; I’ll probably fail again."
"I probably don't have the energy to climb that mountain/start that foundation/write that book."
We are conditioned to look at the odds. We look for safety in statistics. But I recently came across a quote by Katie Bone, a world-class indoor rock climber and type 1 diabetic, that stops the "Probable" police in their tracks:
"I don't need probable, I just need possible."
The Trap of "Probable"
If you are a mid-lifer, an empty nester, or approaching retirement, "Probable" is not your friend. "Probable" looks at your past constraints—your limited time, your financial responsibilities, your previous attempts—and predicts a future that looks exactly the same.
"Probable" is safe. But "Probable" is also why you feel that nagging dissatisfaction despite all your gratitude and achievements.
The Power of "Possible"
Katie Bone doesn't look at a rock wall and calculate the statistical likelihood of reaching the top. She looks for a hold. She looks for a grip. She looks for a path.
She asks a binary question: Is it theoretically possible for a human to do this? If the answer is Yes, then the work begins.
This is exactly where you are right now.
Is it possible to start a business after 40? Yes.
Is it possible to get in the best shape of your life after the kids leave the house? Yes.
Is it possible to build a legacy that changes lives? Yes.
You don't need the odds to be in your favor. You just need to know the door isn't locked.
Turning "Possible" into Reality
Here is the secret that Move to Joy Coaching is built on: Possibility needs a plan.
Dreams often stay in the "Cloud of Impossible" because we don't know how to ground them in reality. That is where I come in. I am the Project Manager for Dreams.
When you stop worrying about whether it's probable and decide to embrace that it is possible, we get to work using the MOVE to JOY framework. We don't ignore the risks—we manage them.
We visualize the End Result: We take that vague dream and make it high-definition.
We use the M.A.P. Process: We chart the path from where you are now to that dream destination.
We apply Practical Reality: I use my background as a PM to identify constraints (time, money, fear) before they become sinkholes.
From "What If I Can" to "I'm So Glad I Did"
The path to your dreams isn't easy. If it were, everyone would walk it. It requires doing the hard work. It requires facing the fear that you might look foolish trying something new at this stage of life.
But imagine looking back five years from now. Do you want to look back at a "probable" life where nothing changed? Or do you want to look back and say, "I’m so glad I did"?
You have achieved so much already. You are a successful professional, a dedicated parent, a community member. You have built a life of substance. Now, let’s build a life of Joy.
If you are ready to move from "I could never" to "What if I can," let’s talk.
