Emotional Support Team
Being an entrepreneur can be lonely.
After all, you are the one responsible for making everything work and success or failure rests squarely on your shoulders. There is no one to bounce an idea off, call for inspiration, or help pull you back from the ledge when you are having a day. And for entrepreneurs who used to work in corporate, not having a team to rely on or even “work bestie” can exacerbate that feeling of being alone.
We often think of our team like we think of corporate departments: marketing, IT help desk, finance, and so on. And they are definitely part of a successful entrepreneur’s team, whether you have outsourced those tasks, hired someone, or it’s you and ChatGPT.
But what do the entrepreneurs I talk with miss the most?
The emotional support and the collaboration of working towards similar goals. Tossing ideas around with colleagues to find a solution where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Asking for suggestions from people with varied experiences and skillsets to refine your own work. Even just grabbing a cup of coffee and sharing successes is an aspect that many entrepreneurs miss from their days in corporate (maybe the only thing 🤣!)
I am very lucky to have multiple groups of entrepreneurs that I am able to work with to create the community needed to thrive. Each group meets a different need, from various approaches to finding the right help (marketing, IT, taxes and so on), to collaborations on various projects, to goal-setting, and yes, even to that cup of coffee to pull me back from the ledge.
